Auckland Council has agreed its vaccination policy for contractors working for or on behalf of the council.
Mayor Phil Goff welcomes the government’s Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Stimulus Package, which will help Aucklanders enjoy their region this summer and boost the city’s economic recovery after 106 days in lockdown.
From Friday 3 December the council will require its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to carry out their roles.
A COVID-19 recovery fund has been approved by Auckland Council’s Parks, Arts, Community and Events Committee, with the balance from this year’s Regional Community Development grants programme to fund Rapid Response COVID-19 Recovery grants.
Mayor Phil Goff and councillors Alf Filipaina, Efeso Collins and Josephine Bartley have led a virtual fono (meeting) with Pacific leaders to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on Pasifika people in Auckland and how the council could help with accelerating the vaccine rollout, providing welfare support and combatting racism.
